May 26 - Fort Farmers' Market - 10th Anniversary Celebration CELEBRATE 10 YEARS OF LOCAL FOODS. Come join us for this kick off event of the Fort Farmers Market 10th anniversary. Enjoy live music, special programs, raffle prizes, kids art project, a community mural, chef demonstrations, and more.
Our market celebrates locally produced foods and artisan crafts each Saturday from 8am to 12pm in downtown Fort Atkinson 1 block off of Main St. The market boasts almost 45 local producers who sell: locally farmed and organic vegetables and fruits; organic cheese and eggs; grass fed beef & chicken; homemade baguettes,scones and jam-filled donuts; fresh milled wheat breads; honey, syrup and jam; fine jewelry and more. Each Saturday also offers music by regionally acclaimed musicians, like Peter Mulvey and Josh Hardy, as well as FREE art activities at the Kids Creativity Tent. In addition, the market has a special monthly Arts Saturday with 15 additional arts producers and other special activities like Dairy Day in June. May 27-September 1 - The Waterloo Area Historical Museum Opening The Waterloo Area Historical Museum will open Sunday, May 27, Memorial Day. Come and visit the Museum on 130 E. Polk St., the old St. Joseph's Catholic Church, now the Waterloo Area Historical Museum. We will be open every Sunday afternoon, 1-4pm until early September. View our beautiful mural of early Waterloo, created by Fred Wurzbach in 1977-1978. Artifacts from the area plus original art by Zula Kenyon and Adelaide Hiebel are also on display. We also have an extensive collection of family history information, cemetery lists, plat maps, etc. Honor your heritage by finding "your place in history" and then visit the area where it all began.
