The Dang-Its' approach is roots oriented, emphasizing tight arrangements with clear, soaring vocal harmonies. Bicycle Forum for Jefferson and Walworth Counties

Learn about the local health and economic impacts of bicycling, and receive updates to the Jefferson County Bicycle Plan on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the Dwight Foster Public Library Community Room in Fort Atkinson.

Beginning at 6pm, the first hour of the program will feature presentations by John Raub from 2Rivers Bicycle and Outdoor (a new bike shop in Fort Atkinson), along with Steve Grabow from the UW Extension, Jefferson County Office, as well as Joe Nehmer, Jefferson County Parks Director. After the formal presentations conclude, the program will move to the bike shop for an open house, reception and information networking opportunities among participants. The bike shop is located on the Glacial River Bike Trail at 102 W. Sherman Street. Food and beverages will be available.

This is the first in a series of Bicycle Forums, and the objectives are:
  • Introduce the context of bicycling and its impacts (economic, health and recreational)
  • Unveil the new Jefferson County Bike Plan Update, which has several recommendations for on-road and off-road path improvements throughout the county
  • Provide opportunities for sharing and networking among existing partners and potential new partnerships in Jefferson County, Walworth County and the many communities of interest associated with bicycling
A recent study by UW Madison has documented the significant economic and health impacts of bicycling in Wisconsin. In addition, Jefferson and Walworth counties are both home to Trek Bicycle Corporation facilities; Trek is one of the largest employers in this area. The recently approved Glacial Heritage Area initiative calls for enhanced bicycle riding facilities in this area, and the new Jefferson County Bike Plan update approved by the Jefferson County Parks Committee recognizes the importance of bicycling in the Jefferson County region.

See how you can Enjoy Jefferson County - on your bicycle!

"A Year with Frog and Toad," based on the Arnold Lobel story series, is a a year with frog and toadwitty, sophisticated treat for all ages, following best friends Frog and Toad through a year of hilarious and poignant antics and adventures, to the tune of one of the jazziest, upbeat scores in recent memory. Nominated for best book, best score, and best musical at the 2003 Tony Awards, "A Year With Frog And Toad" remains true to the spirit of the original stories as it follows two great friends, the cheerful and popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation in the spring, they proceed to plant gardens, swim, rake leaves and go sledding, learning life lessons along the way, including a most important one about friendship and rejoicing in the attributes that make each of us different and special." Great family-friendly entertainment for ages 5 - 95!
