May 27-September 1 - The Waterloo Area Historical Museum Opening

The Waterloo Area Historical Museum will open Sunday, May 27, Memorial Day. Come and visit the Museum on 130 E. Polk St., the old St. Joseph's Catholic Church, now the Waterloo Area Historical Museum. We will be open every Sunday afternoon, 1-4pm until early September. View our beautiful mural of early Waterloo, created by Fred Wurzbach in 1977-1978. Artifacts from the area plus original art by Zula Kenyon and Adelaide Hiebel are also on display. May 19 - Trot for the Pot

Trot for the Pot is a one-time only competitive 5k run and fun walk event put on by the Fort Atkinson Project Lead Group byTrot for the Pot way of the Fort Atkinson Chamber of Commerce. The race will start at 9:00am on Saturday, May 19th. This event is to raise money for the construction of a bathroom facility at Barrie Park in the heart of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. In addition to providing wonderful green-space and play areas for kids of all ages, the Park also has a beautiful band shell that plays host to concerts and performances. The Park is also located near the bike path.

Barrie Park is a wonderful gem in our City that needs but one thing......Hence......Trot for the Pot! The race route will include a tour down part of the bike path. Lots of great prizes and giveaways for all ages, from the most competitive of racers, to those wanting a fun leisurely stroll and for those somewhere in between. No worries, as a temporary facility will be available. It'll be a bowl of fun!

May 5 - Volunteer Your Time at Dorothy Carnes Park

The Jefferson County Parks Department will be working with volunteers at Dorothy Carnes Park in an effort to control invasive species in the park's oak woodlands. The public is invited to help in this effort.

This year's plan will focus attention on hand-pulling and spraying the garlic mustard that continue to plague the oak woodland to the south of the park shelter.

Volunteers are needed from 8:30am-12pm.
