ACT 7 is the annual AIDS Network Cycles Together, the Wisconsin AIDS bike ride, to raise funds and awareness for AIDS Network. Our goals are to provide a ride that is a substantial challenge for all levels of riders, but is at the same time fun and safe. We also aim to educate the community, raise awareness, and teach tolerance about HIV/AIDS. And finally, we hope to raise the highest possible return to AIDS Network. August 06 - 08, 2011 - 2011 Cowalunga Bike Tour

Early every August, several hundred cyclists begin the three-day CowaLUNGa bike tour to help raise funds for the American Lung Association of Metropolitan Chicago (ALAMC). The tour begins at the Gurnee Mills Shopping Mall in Illinois and travels up into Wisconsin with overnight stops in William's Bay and Whitewater. Each day of the tour is about 60-70 miles of fun road cycling covering a total of 190 miles by the end of day three. This event is not a race but a well supported leisurely ride on safe, scenic roads with limited traffic. There are plenty of rest stops along the way as well as a choice of indoor or outdoor accommodations each night. Fundraising dollars help the ALAMC in their continued fight against lung disease.

On July 28th, 2011, Opportunities Inc. will celebrate its 45th Anniversary and will showcase the completion of its 6 million dollar agency reinvestment, ensuring the continued advancement of community and commercial services that provide training, employment and empowerment for individuals with disabilities and other life barriers throughout Southern Wisconsin. This will be an exciting evening to acknowledge the positive growth in the community's workforce due to Opportunities, Inc's innovative programs and business building initiatives. Recognition will be given to the community members served through the agency, as well as, the foremost private and public sector partnerships that have evolved over the past four decades.

The formal fundraiser will include a social hour beginning at 5:30pm, with Best Events Catering serving delectable refreshments at 6:00pm; outstanding musical entertainment by The Main Street Big Band; and an opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of the agency's mission, as the backdrop of the event will be the newly built 80,000 square feet training and production facility located at 100 East Cramer Street in Fort Atkinson.

Governor Scott Walker has been invited to deliver the key note address and Sports Director for FOX6 News, Tom Pipines, will be the Master of Ceremonies. A presentation is also planned for 7:00 pm, to celebrate the core values of the agency, which include; Commitment, Choice, Collaboration and Community.

With the present debate in the state of Wisconsin centering on several subjects relevant to Opportunities, Inc., such as job creation initiatives, Medicaid Funding, and clean energy; what a perfect time for this event to transpire, and unite the community in celebration for the special citizens that have been empowered by its mission for 45 years!

The relaxed atmosphere will surely entice relationship building for those who have differing backgrounds and political viewpoints and foster an awareness of the myriad of programs available for individuals with disabilities and other life barriers; emphasizing the positive outcomes that are revealed every day at the agency. Furthermore, education and enlightenment will flourish among guests as open dialogue and social networking are cultivated throughout the evening. Finally, the importance of the mission of Opportunities, Inc. and cause for its sustainability will be assured when an entire community joins together in celebration of its success!

Fort Arts Walk

The 3rd Annual Downtown Arts Walk will be host to over 50 artists and artisans. You'll find unique locally handcrafted textiles like woven wool rugs, silver jewelry, ceramic vases & kitchenware, mosaic tiles, felted clothing and beaded earrings and necklaces. In addition, fine artists will be showing traditional watercolor painting, modern oil painting, nature photography and outdoor sculpture. A handful of artists will be giving demonstrations in wood carving, painting, welding, pottery and weaving. Plus there will be plenty to do for the entire family.

Kids can enjoy free arts & crafts projects at the Kids Creativity Tent as well as a romp in the Bouncy House. Everyone will enjoy live music and there will be over 30 local food producers at the Fort Farmers Market.


Sponsored by the Fort Arts Council, this event is in conjunction with the Fort Chamber of Commerce Annual Carnival Days and the Fort Farmers' Market. Additional activities throughout the city will be available. FREE ADMISSION. All of the activities at the 3rd Annual Arts Walk are FREE. Some activities do have suggested donation which go to support the cost of the walk (i.e. tips for musicians, donations for the Kids Art Tent, and donations for the Kids Bouncy House).

MoozapaloozaThe 2011 Cousins Subs® Moo Tour will visit the Jefferson County Fair on Saturday, July 9, in search of the loudest, proudest and most creative moo-ers to compete in August at Moo-la-palooza®, the world famous mooing contest at the Wisconsin State Fair. The Moo Team will hold auditions from 3-7pm on Main Street of the fairgrounds. There is no cost to moo; the contest is open to ages 5 and older and all entrants will receive either Cousins' gift cards, T-shirts or other fun prizes. Cousins Subs will donate $1 per moo to the Jefferson County 4-H Youth Group.

The best moo-ers - the cream of the crop - will be awarded golden cowbells and invitations to Moo-la-palooza, to be held Wednesday, August 10, at the Cousins Subs Amphitheater at the Wisconsin State Fair. What's Happening in Jefferson County? 4th of July Weekend!

July 1, 2011 - 4th of July Street Dance


The Palmyra Chamber of Commerce, together with the Palmyra American Legion Post 304, will join together on Friday evening, July 1st to provide an old fashioned family street dance, with live music and food, in downtown Palmyra from 7-11pm.

The village will close off Third Street from Main to Taft for this annual event. The Chamber will be selling burgers, brats, corn, hot dogs, beer and soda while the American Legion will be selling nachos, coffee, and water. The Lioness Club will offer popcorn for sale and the Palmyra Methodist Church Women will be selling brownies and ice cream. The food stands are scheduled to open at 6 p.m.

At 7 p.m. the band, "Echo Road" will begin playing a wide selection of 70's music including power rock, electric blues and funky jazz. Bring your friends and relatives and enjoy a fun-filled evening of singing, dancing and eating.
